Kevin Mann entered a life of music in New York as a young protégé of the late Joe Barone, studying classical piano at age six.  Continued studies through early school years earned recognition by drummer Joe Morello (The Dave Brubeck Quartet) and was invited to audition as pianist for the famous drummer’s Seconds backing group.  Throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, Kevin performed as drummer in top nightclubs with The Impossible Dream and The Entertainers, headlining in NYC, the Hamptons, New England, Atlantic City, Miami.   He later studied piano in NYC under jazz great Mike Mandel and completed a jazz master’s program at the Univ of Louisville.  Throughout the 90's and later, he performed as pianist with several New York based jazz quartets and trios.

His recording career includes “It’s On” with The Five (1967) and with Oscar Brand on his “America” album (1971) for Pickwick Records.  In 1972 he recorded on Hammond organ and piano with M.C.Osso  on his album “Umbra Penumbra”.   Two years later with Freedom Brothers Inc , he recorded “Let’s Get Funky”  and a Billboard Top-100 “Red, White and Blue”  on their "FBI" album.   During the same year he recorded  “All Over Now” with Hemlock, produced by Alice Cooper’s Michael Bruce.  

 

From 1995-1999 he toured with The Bourbon Stills Band, opening for national acts Dickey Betts and Great Southern, The Georgia Satellites, The Dixie Dregs, 38-Special, Gov’t Mule and The Marshall Tucker Band.    In 2015 he joined Laurie Records’ recording artists and 2016 Doo-Wop Hall of Famers, The Mystics as Music Director, keyboardist & arranger.

 

He joined S Florida's premiere entertainment and event group, Yacht Rock in May 2020 and was featured on piano, keyboards and percussion.   Currently, he performs  on Hammond B-3 and piano with the energetic South Florida Grand Funk Railroad tribute  Rock & Roll Soul.

He has performed as accompanist with national vocal sensation, Christina Romanello and as well entertains as a solo pianist in several NY and S FL resorts and nightspots.   Kevin is also currently keyboardist for the popular S FL dance group The Soundsations.
